The Void Century and the Ancient Weapons
A hundred-year period of history was erased from the record by the World Government. During this era, the global power structure was violently reorganized, and the ancient weapons along with the Poneglyphs that describe them were left behind. The World Government strictly prohibits any investigation into this era.
Vol.13+ — Revealed gradually through Nico Robin's research and Poneglyph inscriptions from the Alabasta arc onward (vol. 13+).
Formation and Rise of the Rocks Pirates
The Rocks Pirates, captained by Rocks D. Xebec, gathered future Emperors including Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido under one banner. They were regarded as the most dangerous pirate crew of the era and were closely monitored by the World Government.

God Valley Incident — Destruction of the Rocks Pirates
To protect World Nobles and their slaves at God Valley, Marine Vice Admiral Garp and Gol D. Roger joined forces and defeated the Rocks Pirates. Rocks himself was killed and the crew disbanded. The World Government subsequently erased the event from the official historical record.

Ohara Incident — Buster Call and Erasure of History
On the island of Ohara in the West Blue, a community of archaeologists had been researching the Void Century. The World Government authorized a Buster Call naval bombardment, destroying the island and killing all its inhabitants except the child Nico Robin.

Gol D. Roger Conquers the Grand Line
The Roger Pirates, captained by Gol D. Roger, reached Laugh Tale at the end of the Grand Line and discovered the legendary treasure known as One Piece. Shortly after, Roger turned himself in to the World Government.

Birth of Portgas D. Ace
Portgas D. Rouge carried Roger's child for an extraordinary twenty months to evade World Government agents searching for Roger's offspring. She gave birth one year and three months after Roger's execution, but died immediately from the strain.

Roger's Execution and the Dawn of the Great Pirate Era
Gol D. Roger was publicly executed at Loguetown by the World Government. His final words before death ignited the world's imagination, setting off the Great Pirate Era as countless people took to the seas in pursuit of the treasure he left behind.

Monkey D. Dragon Founds the Revolutionary Army
Monkey D. Dragon, driven by the World Government's corruption and the atrocities he witnessed, founded the Revolutionary Army alongside Emporio Ivankov and Bartholomew Kuma. The organization declared its goal as the overthrow of the World Government and began supporting oppressed nations.

Luffy Meets Shanks and Eats the Gum-Gum Fruit
The Red-Haired Pirates, captained by Shanks, docked at Foosha Village in the East Blue, where they befriended the young Luffy. Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit, turning his body into rubber. Shanks later entrusted his straw hat to Luffy before leaving.

Loguetown — Roger's Execution Platform and Dragon's Intervention
The Straw Hats stopped at Loguetown before entering the Grand Line. Luffy was captured by Buggy on the very platform where Roger was executed, but survived when a bolt of lightning struck at the crucial moment. Revolutionary Army leader Dragon intervened to allow Luffy to escape Smoker.

Formation of the Straw Hat Pirates and the East Blue Voyage
Luffy set out to sea and recruited Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, forming the Straw Hat Pirates. Defeating a series of powerful foes including Buggy, Kuro, Krieg, and Arlong, the crew made their way across the East Blue toward the Grand Line.

Alabasta Civil War and the Fall of Baroque Works
The desert kingdom of Alabasta was torn apart by a civil war engineered by the criminal organization Baroque Works. Luffy's crew joined forces with Princess Vivi to liberate the kingdom, defeating the warlord Crocodile. Nico Robin subsequently joined the crew.

Skypiea and the Defeat of Enel
The Straw Hats reached Skypiea, an island in the sky. Enel, a self-proclaimed god wielding lightning powers via the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, ruled the island with an iron fist, but was defeated by Luffy whose rubber body was immune to electricity. A Poneglyph was also discovered in the ancient city of Shandora.

Enies Lobby Raid and Robin's Rescue
When Nico Robin was taken by the World Government's intelligence agency CP9, the Straw Hats stormed the judicial island Enies Lobby alone. They declared war on the World Government by burning its flag, and after an intense series of battles, rescued Robin.

The Final Voyage of the Going Merry
Shipwrights at Water Seven declared the Going Merry beyond repair. The ship made one final miraculous voyage to rescue the crew at Enies Lobby, but could sail no further. The Straw Hats held a burial at sea for their beloved ship.

Thriller Bark and Brook Joining the Crew
On the ghost island of Thriller Bark shrouded in fog, Warlord Gecko Moria manufactured an army of zombies using stolen shadows. The crew reclaimed their shadows and defeated Moria. The skeletal musician Brook joined the Straw Hats.

Celestial Dragon Incident and the Crew's Separation
On the Sabaody Archipelago, events involving a World Noble triggered a Navy response, and Marine Admiral Bartholomew Kuma used his ability to send each member of the Straw Hat Pirates flying to a different corner of the world.

The Summit War — Deaths of Whitebeard and Ace
A full-scale war erupted at Marine Headquarters Marineford between the Whitebeard Pirates and the combined forces of the Navy and the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Portgas D. Ace was executed, and Whitebeard also fell in battle, fundamentally reshaping the world's balance of power.

Two Years of Training and the Crew's Reunion
Following the Marineford war, Luffy trained under Silvers Rayleigh to master Haki, while his crewmates trained in their respective locations for two years. Reunited, the Straw Hats set their course for the New World.

Fish-Man Island and the Defeat of Hody Jones
The Straw Hats reached Fish-Man Island on the ocean floor. Fish-man extremist Hody Jones attempted a coup d'état but was defeated by Luffy's crew. Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi was revealed to be the ancient weapon Poseidon.

Punk Hazard and the Defeat of Caesar Clown
The Straw Hats landed on the ruined experimental island Punk Hazard and confronted scientist Caesar Clown, who was producing SMILE artificial Devil Fruits for Doflamingo. An alliance between Luffy and Trafalgar Law was forged.

Liberation of Dressrosa and Defeat of Donquixote Doflamingo
Luffy and allies fought to liberate the kingdom of Dressrosa from the grip of Donquixote Doflamingo. After a protracted battle, Luffy defeated the Warlord, freeing the kingdom and inadvertently inspiring the formation of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Battle Against the Big Mom Pirates and Sanji's Rescue
Luffy led a small team into Big Mom's territory at Whole Cake Island to rescue Sanji from an arranged marriage to the Vinsmoke family. The crew disrupted the wedding and ultimately escaped after neutralizing Big Mom's pursuit.

The Levely World Council and the Revelation of Im
The Levely, a world council of fifty kingdoms held every four years, convened at Mary Geoise. The Seven Warlords system was voted for abolishment, the existence of the mysterious figure Im was hinted at, and the Revolutionary Army launched an operation at Mary Geoise that resulted in King Cobra's mysterious death.

Kozuki Oden's Flashback — Adventures with Whitebeard and Roger
A flashback recounted how Kozuki Oden joined the Whitebeard Pirates and later the Roger Pirates, ultimately reaching Laugh Tale. He learned Wano's true history and its role in the coming Dawn, but was executed after returning home by Kaido's forces.

Liberation of Wano and Defeat of Emperors Kaido and Big Mom
In the isolated nation of Wano, the Beasts Pirates under Kaido held the country in an iron grip. Luffy and his allies joined forces with the Kozuki clan to overthrow Kaido. Luffy achieved a new awakening known as Gear Five, and following victory he was recognized as one of the Four Emperors.

After the Warlord System's Abolition — Formation of the Cross Guild
Following the dissolution of the Warlord system voted at the Levely, Mihawk and Crocodile joined forces to form the Cross Guild. Buggy became its nominal figurehead and was consequently recognized as one of the Four Emperors. The organization stunned the world by placing bounties on Marines.

Egghead Island and the Attempt on Vegapunk's Life
The Straw Hats arrived at Egghead Island, the laboratory of the genius scientist Vegapunk. The World Government moved to silence him, but before his death Vegapunk broadcast a world-shaking message. The arc marked the beginning of a direct clash with the highest powers of the World Government.
