Ritsuka Uenoyama finds Mafuyu Sato asleep on a school landing with a guitar whose strings are broken. After repairing it, he is persistently asked for lessons, and Mafuyu's sincerity begins to revive Ritsuka's fading passion for music.

Ritsuka is struck by Mafuyu's voice and brings him into the band
Hearing Mafuyu sing casually, Ritsuka is deeply moved and invites him into the band he shares with Haruki Nakayama and Akihiko Kaji. Though Mafuyu initially refuses, Ritsuka tells him his voice reached someone despite his difficulty expressing himself, and Mafuyu joins as singer-guitarist.

On show day, Mafuyu's lyrics remain unfinished and a string breaks, but Ritsuka replaces it and communicates his feelings. Once the music begins, Mafuyu sings his grief and regret for Yuki in spontaneous lyrics; after the performance, an overwhelmed Ritsuka kisses him.

After winning CAC and securing a debut, syh members Hiiragi and Shizusumi recruit Ritsuka as a support guitarist. Given also receives a debut offer, but Mafuyu postpones his answer while Ritsuka accepts Hiiragi's request to finish Yuki's incomplete song.

Hiiragi and Shizusumi acknowledge their feelings for each other
Working around Yuki's song leads Hiiragi to recognize his love for Shizusumi, who has remained beside him since childhood. After misunderstandings, Ritsuka's demo helps him understand Yuki and Mafuyu's ordinary love as well, and he renews his confession to Shizusumi, bringing them together.

Ritsuka completes Yuki's unfinished song as Umi e and delivers it to Mafuyu at syh's live show. Hearing both Yuki's past feelings and Ritsuka's present devotion in the same song, Mafuyu returns to music and to Ritsuka, choosing to move forward while singing with given again.
